Brand New Features - Elden Ring: Nightreign

by Dom's Roundtable

This section is where Nightreign really begins to feel like a completely new game. There are randomized events that ensure no 2 matches in Nightreign ever feel the same. The only one we got to experience during the playthrough was a Fell Omen appearing and chasing you down all over the map, hunting a specific member of your team. If you are his mark, good luck, he will stop at nothing to kill you, however, if you do manage to fight him back, you'll be rewarded with additional loot, a load of runes, and from the looks of it you'll even succeed in temporarily halting the Night and giving you a bit more time to level up before the Night Boss.

However, judging by the trailer, that's just the START of it when it comes to the randomized events, there will be gigantic spiders, eery forests, and I can only imagine what else they have waiting in store for us.

Another great new mechanic is the minimap, the whole map is available to you at the start of the match, and you can use the minimap in tandem with traversing the world, to quickly figure out where you should go next, and efficiently communication with your teammates.

There are also Spectral Trees you can interact with to summon and grab onto your Spectral Hawk to fly you across the map. The Spectral Hawk will follow a set route depending on the tree you have summoned him to, but you can partially control him and veer him off course, and you can also drop off at any time. So you don't need to worry that you're locked in until the end of the route, without the fear of fall damage, you can jump off wherever you like.

Another new feature are Spiritstreams, which work very similarly to Spiritsprings, however they operate without the need for Torrent, and propel you even greater distances!
